1. Overview

PDFKit (pdfkit.uk) is a browser-based PDF toolkit. Our core principle is simple: your files never leave your device. All PDF processing happens entirely within your browser using local computation. No file content is ever uploaded to our servers.

2. Data We Do NOT Collect

  • The content of any PDF or file you process
  • Your name, email address, or any personal identity
  • Any file you upload — it is processed in your browser and immediately discarded

3. Analytics Data We Collect

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) via Google Tag Manager to collect anonymous usage data to improve the product. This includes:

  • Tool usage events — which tool you used (e.g. "merge_pdf", "compress_pdf")
  • File metadata — file name and file size (in KB) of uploaded files. File names help us understand what types of documents people work with. No file content is ever collected.
  • Operation counts — how many operations you perform per day (used to enforce free tier limits)
  • Error events — when a tool fails, to help us fix bugs
  • Paywall interactions — when the upgrade prompt is shown and whether you clicked it
  • Device ID — a randomly generated anonymous identifier stored in your browser's localStorage, used solely to enforce daily usage limits. This ID is not linked to any personal identity.
  • Scroll depth and page views — standard web analytics

All analytics data is anonymous. We cannot and do not identify individual users from this data.

4. Local Storage

We store the following items in your browser's localStorage:

  • pdfkit_device_id — anonymous random ID for usage tracking
  • pdfkit_usage — your daily operation count (date + count only)
  • pdfkit_license_key — your license key if you have purchased one

You can clear these at any time by clearing your browser's localStorage for pdfkit.uk.

5. Third-Party Services

  • Google Analytics 4 — anonymous usage analytics
  • Google Tag Manager — tag and event management
  • Ahrefs Analytics — anonymous website analytics
  • Stripe — payment processing for Pro licenses and subscriptions. Stripe's own privacy policy applies to any purchase transaction.
  • Firebase / Firestore — stores license validity and anonymous daily usage counts (device ID + count only, no personal data)

6. Cookies

We use cookies only through Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager for anonymous analytics purposes. No advertising or tracking cookies are used.

7. Your Rights

Since we do not collect personally identifiable information, there is no personal data profile to access, correct, or delete. You can reset your anonymous device ID at any time by clearing localStorage in your browser settings.
