When splitting beats sending the whole file

Splitting a PDF is usually about discretion, not file size. You have a 40-page agreement but the other party only needs the signature page. Your bank statement covers six months but the landlord asked for two. Sending the full document overshares; splitting sends exactly the pages requested and nothing more. Because PDFKit extracts pages locally in your browser, the full document — the part you did not want to share — never leaves your machine in the first place.

There are two distinct jobs here and PDFKit handles both: extracting a page range into one new file (pages 12–15 as a single PDF), and breaking a document into separate files (each invoice from a combined scan as its own PDF). Pick based on what the recipient needs to receive, not on how the source file happens to be organised.

Page extraction is exact — the selected pages keep their original resolution, fonts, and layout, because they are copied, not re-rendered. That also means a scanned page stays a scanned image after splitting; splitting never makes text selectable. If you need editable text from the extracted pages, run the result through PDF to DOCX afterwards.
